Designer,
Tool & Die
The Designer examines the quotation, estimates the hours and materials, purchase orders, sketches, standards and specifications to interpret the design requirements for the customer and creates a workable tool/die design. DT Engineering does not design or build any type of molds. Applicants must have a working knowledge with sheet metal.
Your Role
Using Solidworks software, creates a tool/die design along with plan views, cross sections, details, and bill of material to satisfy customer requirements for sheet metal parts.
Follows the project in the build stage and advises the Leader as questions/problems arise.
Concepts all types of tools/dies, checks other designs, updates previous designs, and authors engineering changes as requested by the Estimator or customer.
Confers with the customer, engineering staff, and project leaders during the project's progress and recommends design modifications to malfunctions.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Must be able and willing to work overtime when required to meet timelines and workload.
It is the responsibility of all employees to be aware of DT Engineering’s quality policy, objectives, guiding principles, and departmental work instructions relative to their position. Travels to customer location to evaluate manufacturing processes, assist in installation, or design auxiliary items on site.
Performs other duties as required.
Demonstrate financial acumen appropriate for this position.
Qualifications
10 years of design/toolmaker experience in tool and die.
Good working knowledge of GD&T principles.
Comprehensive knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, and drafting principles.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of tool design.
Prior experience or training in 3D CAD is helpful.
Ability to design per DT Engineering or customer standards.
Demonstrated creativity.
Communication skills and customer service orientation to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
